A wonderful Saturday - tuned in Universal Sports webcast of Milano-San Remo (not quite as good as being there as we were last year of course!) in the morning and in the afternoon invited some friends over for a semi-annual ravioli-making party. Once 3-400 of the tasty pillows of dough were created by our team - Larry mixing and rolling out the dough with (shown here) Heather, Lillian and Brent inserting the fillings and doing the cutting and crimping, we retired to the posh CycleItalia living quarters to enjoy some well-deserved snacks. You can see some of our autographed jersey collection in the background - these are replica jerseys but the autographs are genuine - you can see Tour green from Sean Kelly, Giro pink from Gianni Bugno, two Tour yellows from Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond, plus the old combined points Tour jersey from Stephen Roche.
Hi Larry & Heather, thanks for your responce to my "grouching" in ICJ about Campagnolo Athena 2011. Great chance to visit your blog and site, you're doing a great job! (I envy everything, from your cycling trips to Italy, to your autographed jerseys and home made ravioli!).

Some great racing this spring, for sure! Paris-Nice and Milan-San Remo were the best in years. Matty Goss has turned in some impressive rides, along with Evans and the usual suspects, to make things interesting this season.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't pay much attention to P-R in favor of watching Tirreno-Adriatico via the same Universal Sports webcasts. Good on Matty Goss, the first Aussie to win MSR and to Cadel Evans on winning T-A. We'll be watching the rest of the spring races as well.
ReplyDeleteCiao Haris, Heather gets to Athens quite a lot due to her academic exploits though Larry's only been once, he prefers Italy. We love Campagnolo but are sad when it seems they must remove features from the products to meet the market demands as to price, etc.
ReplyDeleteLarry believes it's a move to try and get more OEM spec on complete bicycles -- otherwise where are the future Campagnolo-philes to come from if all they've ever experienced are the products of the S-companies?

Ciao Larry & Heather, me too "amo" Campy, and generally Italian Road Cycling, that's the reason my Bianchi is 100% Campy equipped (Athena groupset, Zonda wheels)... I only complain about the Athena 2011 levers, just to say to any potential buyers to pay 50-60 euros extra and get the Chorus ones... (as for me, I'm trying to convince a friend to upgrade his Athena 2010 levers to Super Record ... ;-)
