Ortigia mercato (Ortigia market)

Every day except Sunday the outdoor market on the tiny island is in full swing. Some of the vendors operate from built-in shops like the fish mongers and cheese guy while others set up a canopy and folding tables to showcase their wares. Fresh, fresh, fresh is the rule here whether it's fish, fruit or vegetables. I made the rounds this morning while a friend shot the out-of-focus photos of me posing with our trusted sources of the island's bounty. Looking forward to getting on the bike to burn off a few of these calories as we've not been out since our holiday vacation in Southern California...almost two weeks ago.
