North American Handmade Bicycle Show 2019 Part 3

North American Handmade Bicycle Show 2019 Part 3

We saved the best part for last. We hope these posts will follow the building of long-time CycleItalia client D. Hodge's dream bicycle.

Zio Lorenzo suggested he come out to NAHBS when Mr. Hodge told him of a dream bike project. His original idea was to get a top-of-the-line bike from a venerable Italian brand, but Zio pointed out those bikes, while very fine, are not Made-in-Italy nor Made-to-Measure,

Why not come out to Sacramento to meet the guy who will actually make your bike? The same guy will take your measurements, discuss (with help from the Albabici boys - grazie!) all aspects of the bike and even help you choose the paint job?

He chose a Puma NTO for his dream bike, complete with Campagnolo's new Super Record 12 speed groupset. He chose to go with classic rim brakes and the seat stays will be mounted a bit higher on the seat tube for more comfort. He found the perfect blue color on a show bike in the Favaloro booth and Michele whipped out the colored pencils to draw up the final paint scheme.

Now Michele's back in his tiny shop on the shores of Lake Garda creating each carbon tube one by one. He's facing a deadline to have the bike completed and delivered to Piedmont Cycling Resort by May 31 when Mr. Hodge arrives to try it out. We hope Michele will ride around with us before Hodge and friends depart on a private version of our Vineyards to the Sea itinerary.

Perhaps best of all, this 100% Italian, made-to-measure dream bike will actually cost LESS than the off-the-rack bike he was first considering!

You can have one too. Contact us for details.

Check back often for more posts as this dream bike comes together.
