We woke up today expecting to enjoy cycling through the Barolo countryside. Instead we heard distant thunder during breakfast and the rains quickly came, dampening our spirits as well as the roads. But, as someone once said, "when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping" (or something like that) so in the van we went to Atlante Ciclismo, emporium of cycling. After a hour or so of wandering the vast assortment of all things cycling, we headed out for lunch. Heather spied a roadside spot called "Rossopomodoro" (literally Red Tomato) featuring pizza at lunchtime. But not just any pizza, this place billed itself as CuoreNapoletana (Neopolitan Heart) so our expectations were for genuine, Napoli-style pizza. They were met, and them some, as you can see here with Rick holding up his work-of-art. Buonissimo! As usual the sun returned soon after pranzo but we decided to take a lazy afternoon off the bikes and rest up for the long ride back through Roero and Monferrato to Hotel Ariotto tomorrow.
