Sunshine and mountains

Glorious sunshine and warm temperatures were on tap for our journey from Gavi to Cortemilia. The colline of Monferrato soon gave way to the larger climbs of the Langhe, where we feel "on top of the world" as shown here. A twisty descent takes us down to our enthusiastic host, Carlo Zarri at his Villa San Carlo. We replaced those calories burned with a sumptuous dinner of risotto with castelmagno cheese followed by lamb chops carved at our table by Carlo himself! A Roero Arneis and special "almost" Barbaresco wine paired well and Carlo even played a few tunes on the piano while we enjoyed our dessert!
