Welcome to Piedmont! Our welcome dinner, after an antipasto of bresaola, tomino and vitello tonnato, included risotto with fresh truffles (Mamma is shown here with truffle slicer in hand, covering each plate with thin slices of the tasty tuber) before roasted chicken, potatoes with rosemary and sauteed zucchini. We enjoyed a Barbera Monferrato from Vicara, just a few kms from Terruggia with dinner and a Moscato from Castiglione Tinella with our chocolate mousse and "brut-e-bon" cookies for dessert. Properly fueled, we'll set out for Monterotondo di Gavi tomorrow morning.
