Lights, camera, PASTA!

Saturday afternoon was our semi-annual ravioli party. Small turnout this time round but our friends Brentano and Lillian can crank out the pasta! Not literally as Lorenzo actually turns the crank on the trusty Imperia after mixing and kneading the dough as you see here. Assembly continues amid lively banter as we enjoy some vino as well as "taste-testing" the fruits of our labor by boiling up and eating any rejects with butter, fresh sage and Parmigiano-Reggiano during the process.
After we've used up all the fillings (this time braised beef, potato and herb, chicken, pork and the classic cheese and spinach) and filled the freezer with the tasty pillows of dough, we retire to the comfy chairs for Italian-inspired "snackage" bruschetta al pomodoro, prosciutto melone, salame, Italian cheese and (of course!) a bit more vino -- Lorenzo pulled out a 10 year-old Taurasi "RADICI" from Mastroberardino this evening.
After dolci (vanilla ice cream "poached" in espresso) followed by a shot of grappa or sambuca, we divide up the spoils so the tired but happy laborers can call it a night and head home -- until the spring when we'll do it all again!
